Mike Salisbury is Vice President of Business Development for Lookout Ridge Consulting, a division of AgStar Financial Services. Lookout Ridge Consulting provides Succession Planning, Business Planning, Retirement & Estate Planning, Financial Management, Human Resources Development, Alliance Development, Merger and Acquisition Services, Business Valuation, and Accounting and Tax services to the private agri-business sector. Salisbury received certification as a Certified Agricultural Consultant by the American Society of Agricultural Consultants in 1983.
Prior to founding Salisbury Management Services Mike was with Production Credit Association of Farm Credit Services from 1972 to 1979 when he resigned as association Vice President. Mike received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics with emphasis in financial management from Utah State University.
Mike served as a commissioned officer in the US Army, serving overseas in the Panama Canal Zone and seeing action in Viet Nam, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Distinguish Service Medals.
Active in professional organizations, Mike is a Past President of the American Society of Agricultural Consultants. He is also a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the Family Firm Institute where he has earned the Certificate in Family Business Consulting. Mike has served as Trustee of Montcalm County Community College and served 15 years on the board at M. J. Clark Memorial Home, a Methodist sponsored retirement home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Salisbury served 12 years as a Director of the SSB Bank, a Michigan Community Bank. He is currently a member of the Luther Heights Camp Association and serves as Vice President of their Board.
Mike's work has been featured in “Farm Futures”, “Top Producer”, “Ag Executive”, “The Potato Grower”, “ Dairy Herd Management” and “Michigan Farmer” publications. He has made presentations to audiences across the country including keynote addresses to National Potato Council, Michigan Bankers Association, Michigan Farm Bureau, American Society of Ag Consultants, the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, Frito Lay’s Annual Supplier Convention, Michigan Community Bankers Association, Idaho Seed Potato Growers Association, Washington State Potato Growers Association, The Linder Farm Radio Network, Minnesota Buffalo Breeders Association, Michigan Potato Industry Commission, Idaho Potato Growers, Idaho Farmer Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers, the Montana Certified Potato Seed Association and the Idaho Ag Bankers Association.
