Jeff Montsma joined Lookout Ridge Consulting in December 2008. Jeff is based out of Fond du Lac, and works with dairy producers across the southern half of Wisconsin in profitability improvement, expansion planning, financial monitoring and annual budgeting.
Jeff previously worked 13 years for Alto Dairy of Waupun, Wisconsin. Most recently he was the Director of Member Services since 2005. In that role he served as a member of the cooperative’s Senior Management team. He worked with the day to day business of milk procurement, overseeing field staff, milk hauling routes, regulatory compliance and maintaining producer relations for 500 member-owners in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
In 2004 Jeff served as an Area Field Supervisor, where he managed Alto’s southern Wisconsin milk routes. In 1998 he served as Alto’s Member Service Specialist, focusing on the development of Alto’s Forward Milk Contracting program, as well as performing industry education seminars on the program. In 1995, Jeff started as a Field Representative for Alto where he worked with over 100 regional producers on maximizing profitability from milk quality.
Prior to Alto Dairy, Jeff worked as a nutritionist for Land O’Lakes in the Calumet and Manitowoc county area in Eastern Wisconsin. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science from UW-River Falls. He grew up on a 50 cow registered and grade Holstein farm near Waupun, Wisconsin.
Jeff is active with the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Dairy Business Association, and many local agricultural and social networking organizations.
Jeff enjoys time with his daughter Gabrielle, hunting, camping, playing volleyball, golf, and cards, in addition to renovating his old farm house.
